2024-2025 commitees

5th Grade Celebration

Helps 5th grade classes raise funds throughout the year, and plans entertainment and vending for their year-end "Celebration of Success" party.

Bee Hive

PTO helps organize volunteers to run this program. Our teachers and administrators manage student behavior according to the guidelines of a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) system at Monte Vista.  As part of that system, children can earn Honey Drops by demonstrating good behavior at school and then turn those Honey Drops in for Bees.  Once a month, when the Bee Hive is open, kids may go down and "purchase" an item from the Bee Hive with their Bees as a reward for their good behavior. Volunteers manage the Bee Hive once a month, for one day, during school hours.  Tasks would include setting up the tables and items just after the morning bell, helping children choose items, and breakdown/clean up just before the afternoon bell rings to end the school day.  Bee Hive days will be the last Friday of each month, with that day being moved up to Thursday where Friday is a Teacher Work Day or Holiday (see committee calendar for specific dates). Helping with the Bee Hive provides a great opportunity to interact with students, teachers and administrators in a positive way!  This committee is not PTO funded.

Working in our garden is a great way to get kids involved, too, and can be done on your schedule!

There will be decorated pumpkins, STEAM demonstrations and activities, arts and crafts, night sky viewing with telescopes on the field, and a variety of food options. This event will be fun for the whole family.

 Monty’s MakerSpace/STEM Lab and Night

Monty’s MakerSpace Monte Vista PTO launched the first-ever dedicated S.T.E.M. Lab in the Spring of 2024. A group of parent volunteers transformed a former unused classroom into a creative space for students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Every class will visit the lab at least twice a month to learn, create and explore. The students hands-on projects are made possible thanks to the generous support and donations of our MV families. You can help stock the room with basic items found on the Wish List below or drop off items in the office from empty toliet & paper rolls to toothpicks, legos and magnatiles.

You can also join the S.T.E.M. Lab committee that will continue the maintenance and expansion of Monty's MakerSpace.  And the kids' talents and future learning in these areas will be showcased on S.T.E.M Night - a festival for all Monte Vista families to enjoy!
